The law firm of Andereck, Evans, Lewis, Figg & Battagler, L.L.C. is pleased to announce that Mr. Bryan Bacon, currently of RUS, will join the firm on July 1, 2019. Bryan will focus his practice on providing comprehensive and creative legal services to rural electric cooperatives. Bryan also intends to advise local banks and small businesses in a wide variety of transactional matters.
Bryan was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. Bryan attended Truman State University and received his Bachelor of Science in Economics (Magna Cum Laude) in 1993. Bryan then attended law school at the University of Missouri-Columbia and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1997. During law school, Bryan was a member of the University of Missouri-Columbia Law Review. Bryan received the CALI Future of Excellence Award for best work in Secured Transactions, Business Organizations, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Religious Liberty. Bryan also received the American Bankruptcy Institute Prize for best work in Business Bankruptcy. Bryan was elected to the Order of the Coif, whose membership is limited to students ranking in the top 10% of their class, by the Law School faculty upon graduation.
After law school, Bryan served as the judicial law clerk for the Honorable David P. McDonald, United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Missouri and the United States Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Eighth Circuit. Bryan returned to Columbia and entered private practice in 2008. Bryan joined the Rural Utilities Service in September 2015 as a General Field Representative. Bryan’s primary role with RUS was to manage the loan portfolio and provide regulatory guidance and support to the RUS borrowers within the Associated G&T group.
Bryan has extensive experience in assisting a wide array of businesses in structuring and financing commercial projects, with an emphasis on rural development and agricultural projects. Bryan also represented creditors, debtors, and unions in several Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. While with RUS, Bryan gained a deep and comprehensive understanding of the legal framework and the rapidly evolving market conditions in which rural electric cooperatives operate.
